History

The travel management company was founded in 2006, when the resources of Hourds Business Travel, Corniche Travel Management, Apollo Business Travel and Tony Iredale Travel were combined to create Co-operative Travel Management. From 2011 onwards, the company was run as a joint venture between Thomas Cook, The Co-operative Group and Midlands Cooperative. In 2014, the company announced it was to be acquired by Mawasem Travel & Tourism Ltd, a subsidiary of the Al Tayyar Group. Earlier in the year, the Middle Eastern-owned travel group had also acquired another Thomas Cook subsidiary in Elegant Resorts.

Following the acquisition by Mawasem Travel & Tourism Ltd, it was announced that a new board would be appointed. Pat McDonagh became CEO, with Mark Nevin and Sue Chapman becoming the CFO and Commercial Director respectively.
